Doodle puppies often have curly or wavy coats that require regular grooming. Brush their coat several times a week to prevent matting and tangles. Schedule professional grooming every 6-8 weeks to keep their coat healthy and manageable.
-
Prepare your home with essentials such as a crate, bedding, food and water bowls, toys, and grooming supplies. Puppy-proof your home by removing hazardous items and creating a safe space for your new arrival.
-
Doodle puppies are intelligent and thrive on mental stimulation. Provide puzzle toys, interactive games, and training sessions to keep their minds active. Regular play and new experiences can also help prevent boredom.
-
Introduce your Doodle puppy to other pets gradually and in a controlled environment. Allow the existing pets to approach the puppy at their own pace, and supervise interactions to ensure they are positive. Provide plenty of positive reinforcement for good behavior from both your puppy and other pets.
-
Gradually increase the time your puppy spends alone to help them get used to being by themselves. Provide engaging toys and a safe space, and avoid making a big fuss when leaving or returning home. This helps reduce separation anxiety.
-
Spaying or neutering your Doodle can prevent certain health issues, reduce the risk of some cancers, and help manage behavioral problems like aggression or marking. Discuss the best time to spay or neuter with your veterinarian.
-
Check your puppy’s weight against breed standards and consult your vet for a proper assessment. You should be able to feel their ribs without pressing hard, and they should have a visible waist. Adjust their diet and exercise if you notice weight gain.
